Client: Thornleigh Salsian College Chapel
Project: Full Electrical Fit out
Scope: Lighting, Power, Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm
Completed: Completed October 2019
Project value: £124,385.60
Project Overview:
Thornliegh was an interesting and challenging project, giving us the opportunity to modernise a very ornate existing chapel on a school campus.
Work Carried out
The rewiring was carefully carried out throughout whilst avoiding damaging any of the delicate plaster mouldings and freezes throughout the building to give a fully concealed installation.
All the lighting has been upgraded to LED with dimming facilities in all public areas, and the centre point of the Chapel the existing chandeliers were all taken down rewired, refurbished and converted to LED along with new glassware to finish them off before refitting.
All new mains distribution equipment was installed providing RBCO protection to all circuits and surge protection to the whole installation. A state-of-the-art fire alarm system now protects the building complete with unobtrusive beam detection in the main chapel avoiding the need for smoke detectors on the ceilings. The intruder alarm utilises a wireless system that can accommodate the thick walls of the chapel and still offer total protection.
Key Challenges
Working around other contractors to finish the bespoke lighting and working around very old delicate plastering moulds and freezes, refurbishing existing chandelier’s and modernising with dimmable LEDs
Added Value:
We delivered an energy efficient electrical fit out through the introduction of LED lighting that brings reduced electricity bills along with a longer maintenance free life span. The project was delivered to the client’s brief on time and of course on budget. The installation was fully tested with NICEIC test certificates supplied as standard.
