Here at Walker Electrical, we are Preston’s leading electrical experts. As a result, we are proud to offer the installation of commercial electric vehicle charging points. With the petrol and diesel ban being introduced and in full swing by 2040, it has never been more important to seriously consider electric cars. This is reflected in the introduction of the Workplace Charging Scheme. Consequently, we have produced this guide to the electric vehicle workplace charging scheme.
What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?
This is government scheme to help companies and businesses be prepared for the change to electric vehicles. It means that you could get £300 off the cost of the purchase and installation of a single socket electric vehicle charging point. Each business can claim for up to 20 charge points, and while employees are making the switch to electric cars, this can be a huge incentive for potential employees.
So, do all businesses qualify?
Well, if your business has off road parking, and you can clarify a business need for an EV charge point, you will be entitled. You dont need to have an electric vehicle at the time of installation, but you do need to have the charge points installed by an OLEV-approved workplace charging point installer, like us here at Walker Electrical.
So, how does the Workplace Charging Scheme work?
This is a voucher based system that starts simply by completing an online form. If you are accepted you will receive a voucher code via email, which can be presented to the company you wish to install the charge point. This will be valid for four months, so act quickly.
If you are a business looking for a cost effective way to install electric car charging points for your employees, look no further. We are OLEV approved, reliable and professional. Get in touch with us today, here at Walker Electrical.
